Art Nouveau, called “Liberty” in Italy, produced several architectural masterpieces in Sicily. Thanks especially to the work of Ernesto Basile, Palermo is considered one of the major centres of this artistic style.
Day 1
Palermo
Arrival in Palermo and check-in at hotel. Visit to the city’s most significant examples of Art Nouveau architecture, many of
which were designed by architect Ernesto Basile: the Morello Bakery, Favaloro House, Grand Hotel Villa Igiea, Florio House, Ribaudo Kiosk, and Palazzo on Via Albenese. Dinner and overnight stay.

Mondello and Trapani
After breakfast, transfer to Mondello, a bathing resort full of Art Nouveau buildings, such as the bathing establishment,
the Tasca D’Almerita and Sofia Houses, and the House on Via Iris. Departure for Trapani and visit to Palazzo Ferrante, the
Post and Telegraph building, and Villa Laura. Return to Palermo, dinner and overnight stay.

Caltagirone
After breakfast, transfer to Caltagirone and check-in at the hotel. Visit to the former Electrical Shops by E. Basile, the
Post and Telegraph building, the Monumental Cemetery, Palazzo Magnolia, and Amico House, with terracottas and decorations
by E. Vella, the House of the Four Seasons by S. Fragapane, who also did the façade of the church of San Giuliano. Dinner
and overnight stay.

Vittoria 
After breakfast, transfer to Vittoria. The historical centre has various significant buildings, in particular on Via Cavour and Via Matteotti, where a standout is the Battaglia House, in addition to Palazzo De Vita and Carfì House, works by architect F. Nifosi, and the Municipal Villa, designed by Fragapane. Return to Caltagirone, dinner and overnight stay.

Catania
After breakfast, departure for Catania, for a visit to Palazzo Manganelli, by E. Basile, the architectural works by T.
Malerba, such as the Filangeri store, the “Palazzotto” on Via Abate, Palazzo Morano on Via Umberto, and the Palazzo in
Piazza Duca di Camastra; Palazzo Rosa, on Via Sei Aprile, by F. Maiorana; Villa Ardizzone, on Via Rapisardi, by C. Malerba.
Transfer to Messina, check-in at the hotel, dinner and overnight stay.

Messina and Milazzo
After breakfast, visit to the Art Nouveau buildings of Messina: Villa Garnier, Florio House, Villa Martines, the Customs building, the building on Viale San Martino, the Government building by C. Bazzani, the Cassa di Risparmio building by
E. Basile, and the Monumental Cemetery. Transfer to Milazzo, to visit the Greco House and Villa Vaccarino, return to
Messina, dinner and overnight stay at hotel.
